If you have insurance cover in place.
To use your private medical insurance you'll need to check in advance with your insurance provider that you're covered for treatment at each stage. Remember, you are responsible for the costs of your treatment so it's important you understand the cover your insurer will provide.
Claims processes differ from insurer to insurer; your insurer should guide you through the process. If your medical cover is provided by your employer, you'll simply follow the claims process that applies to your scheme.
Some useful tips -
- Contact your health insurance provider and check that you're covered for the treatment that's planned - this includes your first out-patient appointment. If you do not have a claim form, ask your insurance company to send one to you.
- If necessary, bring your claim form with you when you attend your first out-patient appointment.
- To make things easier for you we have direct settlement arrangements with the major UK insurers; meaning your insurer will normally settle your bills directly with us. Please note - you will need to pay any insurance excess or shortfall.
For Uninsured Patients
Payment for any consultation or treatment that you receive at BUA will be invoiced at the time of your appointment. This can be paid at reception by cheque, cash or credit card.
